💡 **What is USDT?** USDT or Tether is a cryptocurrency designed in such a way that the price of one USDT is always equal to $1. It’s like having digital dollars that you can use to buy other cryptocurrencies or trade on exchanges including OKX.

3.2. Select how much you’d like to purchase, and press **Continue**.

![4.7.png](https://d-r2z6w7-strapi.wifimap.io/uploads/4_7_d3cc451cc9.png)

3.3. To get USDT you have two options:

- **Buy using P2P Express directly from verified sellers**
- **Buy using Third Party provider**

3.4. In this example, we will buy USDT using **P2P Express**. Out of all options, in our case, Payoneer offers the best price per USDT.

![4.8.png](https://d-r2z6w7-strapi.wifimap.io/uploads/4_8_620c955be4.png)

3.5. Preview the order details and press **Confirm Order**

3.6. You will have 10 minutes to make the payment before your order is cancelled. Check the details again and press **Continue**.

![4.9.png](https://d-r2z6w7-strapi.wifimap.io/uploads/4_9_d3277b7314.png)

3.7. Follow the steps on the screen one by one. Once the payment is sent, press the **Payment completed** button.

3.8. Confirm the payment one more time. If you made the payment correctly, the purchased USDT will be transferred to your account within a few minutes.

Congratulations on buying USDT! In the next part you will learn how you can buy $WIFI using USDT.

#### 4. Buying $WIFI using the OKX spot trading panel
To buy $WIFI we will need to activate the **Pro mode**.

4.1. Please go to the OKX account dashboard by pressing the button with 9 dots in the upper-left corner.

4.2. Press the **Switch to Pro** button to get access to **Spot trading**.

💡 In **spot trading**, you buy a stock or a cryptocurrency with your own money and wait for it to rise in value. Other ways to trade are when you buy or sell something for a future price or date, or when you borrow money to trade more than you have. Spot trading is safer and easier than other ways to trade, but it also makes less money and takes more time.

![4.12.png](https://d-r2z6w7-strapi.wifimap.io/uploads/4_12_19447cad1d.png)

4.3. Right now, your funds (USDT that we purchased earlier) are located in the **Funding** account. Before we can start trading, let’s move your funds to your **Trading** account in the **Assets** menu.

4.4. In the Assets menu select **Trading** to view your Trading account balance. Press **Transfer** to transfer your USDT from the **Funding** account to the** Trading** account.

![4.13.png](https://d-r2z6w7-strapi.wifimap.io/uploads/4_13_4bdee15c47.png)

4.5. Choose that you want to transfer your funds from **Funding** to **Trading**. Select USDT in the **Crypto** field and the **Amount** of USDT you wish to transfer and press **Confirm**.

4.6. Now that we have money in our **Trading account**, we can finally buy $WIFI. To do this, let's go to the **Trade** menu.

![4.14.png](https://d-r2z6w7-strapi.wifimap.io/uploads/4_14_a29aadd2a4.png)

4.7. You will see the **Trading** menu. First of all, we need to choose a **WIFI / USDT** trading pair.

4.8. Here you can select how much you’d like to pay for 1 $WIFI, and how much $WIFI you’d like to purchase. In our case, we are spending 50 USDT to purchase 830 $WIFI tokens. To place the buying order, press the **Buy WIFI** button.

4.9. Your order will appear in the **Orders** section below. Usually, it takes several minutes to find a seller and complete the $WIFI purchase. You will receive a notification from the OKX App once the purchase is complete.

💡 If your order remains open after 10 minutes or longer, we recommend you **Cancel** the order using the button in the bottom-right corner and place a new order by repeating the previous step.

![4.15.png](https://d-r2z6w7-strapi.wifimap.io/uploads/4_15_4f3d543261.png)

4.10. Now go back to the **Assets** menu in the bottom right corner. You will find your $WIFI tokens in the **My Portfolio** menu.

Congratulations on your purchase of $WIFI tokens!

A blockchain is a type of distributed ledger technology. Traditionally, a digital database is kept in a specialized computer called a server. This server would normally be accessed by people who are granted permission to do so. It could be made public or private, or something in between, but everyone is accessing that same database – it's centralized. What's more, it's probably controlled by a specific group of people, and at the end of the day we have to trust that the data is being kept safe and is accurate (and not being used for purposes that go against our own interests!) The downside to this is, of course, the possibility that someone isn't acting in good faith. What if someone hacks the database and changes something, or steals information for their own purposes (or sells it as part of their business model)? A blockchain – and in particular, a public blockchain – is, at its core, a different kind of database. The word ledger is used to describe it, and a blockchain is very good at keeping track of the assets that are coming and going, but it can also store lots of different kinds of information. However, rather than having this ledger all in one computer (centralized), it's synced across a number of different computers known as nodes: it's decentralized or, as it's often called, distributed. All of those nodes are constantly syncing information about transactions on the ledger: assets moving from one address or account on the network to another. These transactions are checked against the ledger's history to ensure that they're valid. Once enough nodes have verified a new transaction, it gets confirmed and becomes final. After a certain amount of time, or after a given number of transactions have been completed, the network will bundle up all those finalized transactions and seal them, using cryptographic software tools, into a block. This block is identified with a hash produced by those cryptographic tools. The next block will use the previous block's hash as a starting point, and so the entire history of the ledger – and therefore of the network – is linked together in a chain of blocks containing transactions: a blockchain.

**A blockchain is a type of _distributed ledger technology_.**
Traditionally, a digital database is kept in a specialized computer called a server. This server would normally be accessed by people who are granted permission to do so. It could be made public or private, or something in between, but everyone is accessing that same database – it's **centralized**.

A blockchain – and in particular, a **_public_ blockchain** – is, at its core, a different kind of database. The word _ledger_ is used to describe it, and a blockchain is very good at keeping track of the assets that are coming and going, but it can also store lots of different kinds of information. However, rather than having this ledger all in one computer (centralized), it's synced across a number of different computers known as _**nodes**_: it's _**decentralized**_ or, as it's often called, _**distributed**_.

All of those nodes are constantly syncing information about transactions on the ledger: assets moving from one _address_ or account on the network to another. These transactions are checked against the ledger's history to ensure that they're valid. Once enough nodes have verified a new transaction, it gets confirmed and becomes _final_. After a certain amount of time, or after a given number of transactions have been completed, the network will bundle up all those finalized transactions and seal them, using cryptographic software tools, into a _**block**_. This block is identified with a _hash_ produced by those cryptographic tools. The next block will use the previous block's hash as a starting point, and so the entire history of the ledger – and therefore of the network – is linked together in a _chain_ of _blocks_ containing _transactions_: **a blockchain**.

A blockchain is a type of distributed ledger technology. Traditionally, a digital database is kept in a specialized computer called a server. This server would normally be accessed by people who are granted permission to do so.

If you are new to the world of cryptocurrencies, you might be wondering how to keep your funds safe and secure. Well, don't worry, because we’re here to give you some tips and tricks on how to protect your crypto assets from hackers, scammers and other threats.

##### **How to choose a secure wallet to store your crypto**
One of the main advantages of crypto is that it is decentralized, meaning that there is no central authority or intermediary that controls or regulates it. This gives you more freedom and privacy, as well as lower fees and faster transactions. However, it also means that **you are responsible for your own security** and that you need to take some precautions to avoid losing your funds.

One of the most important things you need to do is to **choose a secure wallet to store your crypto**.

A wallet is a software or hardware device that allows you to send and receive crypto. There are different types of wallets, such as web wallets, mobile wallets, desktop wallets and hardware wallets. Each one has its own advantages and disadvantages, but in general, you should look for a wallet that has the following features:

23. A strong password and encryption
24. A backup and recovery option
25. A reputable and trustworthy provider
26. A user-friendly interface
27. A compatibility with your preferred crypto

One of the most popular wallets is [MetaMask Wallet](https://metamask.io/). It is a web-based wallet that allows you to access your crypto from any device with an internet connection. MetaMask Wallet supports multiple cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum and WiFi Map Token $WIFI, which is the native token of WiFi Map ecosystem.

##### **Send and receive crypto**
If you are new to the world of crypto, you might be tempted to send your coins to any address that promises you a quick profit or a great deal. But beware! There are many scammers out there who want to take advantage of your inexperience and steal your hard-earned money. That's why we have a word of advice for you: **never rush and send crypto to an unknown address**.

Always do your research before you make any transaction. Check the reputation and legitimacy of the platform, service, or person you are dealing with. Verify the address you are sending to and make sure it matches the one you intended.

And most importantly, **don't let anyone pressure you into making a decision you are not comfortable with**.

Remember, **crypto transactions are irreversible**, so once you send your coins, there is no way to get them back. So be smart, be safe, and be careful with your crypto!

##### **Creating a strong password**
Creating a **strong password** is one of the most important steps you can take to protect your crypto accounts. A strong password can prevent hackers from guessing or cracking your password and accessing your data. But how do you create a strong password? Here are some tips to help you:

Use a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. This makes your password more complex and harder to guess. For example, instead of using "password123", you could use "P@ssw0rd!23".

Avoid using common words, phrases, or personal information. These are easy to guess and can be found in dictionaries or online databases. For example, don't use your name, birthday, pet's name, favorite movie, etc. as your password.

Make your password long and unique. The longer your password is, the more secure it is. Aim for at least 12 characters, but more is better. Also, don't use the same password for multiple accounts. If one account gets compromised, the others will be at risk too.

Use a password manager or generator. A password manager is a tool that stores and encrypts your passwords for different accounts. It can also generate random and strong passwords for you. This way, you don't have to remember or type your passwords every time you log in. Some examples of password managers are LastPass, Dashlane, and 1Password.

Change your password regularly. Even if you have a strong password, it's still a good idea to change it every few months or whenever you suspect a security breach. This can prevent hackers from using your old password to access your account.

By following these tips, you can create a strong password that will keep your online accounts and personal information safe and secure. Remember, a strong password is your first line of defense against cyberattacks!

##### **Use Two-Factor Authentication wherever possible (and why it’s so important)**
Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a security method that requires you to verify your identity in two ways before you can access your online accounts or data.

For example, you might need to enter a password and a code sent to your phone or email.

2FA is important because it makes it harder for hackers to break into your accounts or steal your information, even if they have your password.

There are several tools that enable 2FA, including Google Authenticator, Authy, and YubiKey.

Google Authenticator is a free app that generates a unique code every 30 seconds. YubiKey is a physical device that plugs into your computer’s USB port and generates a unique code when you press the button on the device.

##### **Conclusion**
Cryptocurrency is a valuable investment, but it is important to implement best cybersecurity practices to protect your assets. Using **strong passwords** and **enabling 2FA**, keeping your **crypto wallet secure**, and being **wary of phishing scams** are all important practices to follow. By implementing these practices, you can reduce the risk of cyber attacks and keep your crypto assets safe.
